Using the M3, Drewstown House is only an hour away from Dublin Airport and around an hour-and-a-half from south County Dublin. It is about five kilometres north of Athboy.
From Trim/Athboy:
In the centre of Athboy, take the road north from Main Street, signposted to Oldcastle. (R154 on the map below.) Continue for 4–5 kilometres and, when you see the tall iron gates (almost certainly closed) directly in front of you, continue round to the left, along the Oldcastle road and, after about 300 metres, round to the right. This road runs around the house’s grounds. At the end of the long straight road that follows the right-hand bend, the entrance is the first turning on the right, at a large wooden sign facing you that says “Drewstown House”. Turn down the unpaved drive and, after around 150 metres, turn right through the gates and drive about 50 metres to the large open space on the right, which is the main car-park for visitors.
From Kells/the M3/Cavan:
At the roundabout at the end of the M3, take the road for Delvin/Mullingar — the N52. After around eight kilometres you will pass a petrol station on your left, at the beginning of a long straight. At the end of the long straight there is a crossroads, where you turn left, onto the road for Athboy/Trim. About 300 metres after the left turn, the entrance to Drewstown House is an unpaved drive on the left. A large wooden notice stands at the entrance to the drive. Turn down the unpaved drive and, after around 150 metres, turn right through the gates and drive about 50 metres to the large open space on the right, which is the main car-park for visitors.
From Mullingar/Delvin/Clonmellon:
Travel on the N52 towards Kells. About three kilometres after Clonmellon, at the end of a long straight, there is a forest of road signs at a crossroads. Turn right here, taking the road for Athboy/Trim. About 300 metres after the right turn, the entrance to Drewstown House is an unpaved drive on the left. A large wooden notice stands at the entrance to the drive. Turn down the unpaved drive and, after around 150 metres, turn right through the gates and drive about 50 metres to the large open space on the right, which is the main car-park for visitors.
